Since his career began in 1933 Charles Aznavour has sold over 100 million record sales, 1,200 songs, 80 movies, 294 albums, thousands of concerts around the world. He performs and has recorded in seven languages, and as he celebrates his 90th birthday, is the longest standing 'A-List' star in the world, considered to be one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time with CNN and readers of Time magazine choosing Aznavour as the entertainer of the 20th century, ahead of Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan
But for British speaking music lovers he is probably most associated with the tracks, 'The Old Fashioned Way' and the beautiful ballad 'She' that topped the charts and which has been covered by many others and featured in the hit movie Notting Hill.
There s no sign of the Gallic golden oldie retiring just yet. 'Being on stage gives you wings' he declares following his two hugely acclaimed recent shows at The Royal Albert Hall and upcoming show at The Greek Theatre.
Fingers crossed then that Charles Aznavour the last surviving great 20th-century French chansonnier will be singing in the old-fashioned way and delighting his millions of fans for many years to come.
